Imperius Curse
One of the Least Deadly Unforgiveables

Imperius - Latin: "Impero" - order, govern, command

The Imperius, as stated above, is an Unforgiveable Curses. As you should know, casting an Unforgiveable earns you a trial in front of the Wizamgamot, or the Wizarding High-Court, to state your case. It is very rare to not be given a life-sentence in Azkaban Prison.

The Imperius Curse is a spell that, when cast, puts the victim under the full bodily control of the caster. For example, you could have this curse cast on you, and the Caster could order you to kill... your grandmother, for example. You would have the knife, wand, gun, whatever in your hands, and take her life, and you would feel and see yourself do it, but you would be able to stop it.

There have been, however, quite a few cases of the curse being thrown off by the victim. One such case occurs in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, where Barty Crouch Jr, using Polyjuice Potion to be one 'Professor' Alastor Moody, A.K.A "Mad Eye," casts this curse on the Fourth Years and on a spider for demonstration. In said class, Crouch Jr. casts the Three Unforgiveables on three spiders, including the Cruciatus curse, which will be taught two weeks from now, he then goes along to cast the Imperius on the students, resulting in Harry Potter being the only one to throw it off. It takes much mental skill and control to throw off this curse, as well.

The incantation for the Imperius Curse is "Imperio" Please repeat it, if you will.

That is it for today, hopefully you have benifited from this lesson, and please, do proceed to the Homework section.
